Richard Parker Richard Parker began drawing when he was three and the focus of his youth was on art, music, writing, the outdoors, and sports. He graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis and then from Wayne State University in Detroit ,Michigan, with a BFA Degree and a double major in Advertising Design and Psychology. Richard’s creative career in advertising and marketing in Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Princeton and the Indianapolis area is legendary. He started in business for one of the top art studios in the country in Detroit. Richard then went on to become an Art Director, Copywriter, Creative Director and entrepreneur serving an impressive list of local, national, and international clients throughout his career. They included: General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, JEEP, Dow AgriScience, BASF, Kraft Foods, Westinghouse, Boeing, American Cyanamid, Trojan Yachts, Marriott Hotels, Baltimore Orioles, New Jersey Nets, Wrangler Jeans, Lilly, Campbell’s Soup, DuPont, Dow Jones, Novartis, Kubota Tractors, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, to name just a few. Richard won over 1,500 awards for creative excellence which included an award for the best business advertising in the world for his client Rhone Poulenc, headquartered in Lyon, France. He is also a noted speaker, creative judge, songwriter, and musician. During his career, he directed some of the best photographers, artists, and film directors in the world which provided significant creative influence to his Fine Arts career today. Richard was also a founder of Synapse Technology, the First Intelligent Commerce Company, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Synapse was a pioneer in utilizing advanced technology, data, artificial intelligence (AI), and marketing creativity to serve Fortune 500 companies in North America and all over the world. Also, Synapse was named one of North America’s fastest growing technology companies 5 years in a row in the Deloitte & Touche and PriceWaterhouseCoopers FAST500. As a serious participant in many sports activities throughout his life, Parker played baseball and softball and participated in the first New York Mets Dream Week where he was recruited to play on the Mets traveling Dream Team for several years. As a hockey player, he played in the mid-west and east coast and in the first Philadelphia Flyers Dream Week in Montreal. Richard also was a Senior 250cc Expert AMA Motocross racer for a number of years. And he fulfilled his boyhood dream to become a professional race car driver by earning SCCA PRO and International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) professional racing driver licenses. He has raced at Sebring, Road America, Mid-Ohio, Sonoma, Road Atlanta, and other top road courses all over the U.S. Richard also competed in the American LeMans Series Formula Mazda North American Championship and several other noted racing series. He won his very first race of a total of five wins out of 25 and placing high in many other events. Richard is now pursuing his goal of being a fine artist and has been a Juried Artist Member of the Hamilton County Artists Association (HCAA) and a Member of Nickel Plate Arts in Hamilton County, Indiana. He has works in many mixed media but specializes in painting in digital art. Richard’s focus has been on discovering the natural beauty of the farms, small towns, parks, rivers, streams, small towns, and countryside in Indiana. He plans on expanding his subject matter by doing more commissioned projects, people studies, still life, biblical subjects, travel, and finding new ways to present his art in the most innovative and unique style possible. Parker’s first showings were in November of 2018 at the Equine Arts Guild Show at the Nickel Plate Arts Gallery (with others that followed) and an HCAA Juried Artist Show in Noblesville, Indiana. In 2019 he displayed his art in March at NOBLE MADE ON THE SQUARE in Noblesville, Indiana, and in May at his one-man Artist Showcase at the Nickel Plate Arts Stephenson House Gallery. He had a one-man display at the Cicero Coffee Company and was awarded a Second Place Ribbon in the HCAA “All Our Best” Juried Artist show in July. In August 2019, Parker’s art was displayed at the Nickel Plate Arts Gallery “My Indiana Home” show, the Nickel Plate Arts Mini Maker’s Fare, the HCAA Art Fair on the Square, and at a Nickel Plate show "Art and Healing". Richard also displayed one of his latest pieces and a speech along with a discussion about Faith In Art throughout the ages in 2022. Last, but not least, Richard was announced in the Artists Magazine April 2020 issue and on ArtistsNetwork.com as one of the “Top 10 Artists Over 60 in America” with his winning submission, OVERHERD.
