Major sponsors of this car were BF Goodrich and Miller High Life. The 27th annual running of this race was sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The artist, Richard Parker, was also a professional road racer. He had SCCA Pro and IMSA licenses and raced in Formula Mazda in SCCA National races and the American LeMans Series races, the Formula Mazda North American Championship.
